We are currently in the process of contacting charities working in Tibet and/or with Tibetans in exile sopporting education. From a list of about 15 charities that we researched, we have sortlisted the following 5, and have sent proposal letters to each of them to let them know who we are and what we want to do, with the aim to partner with two or three of them.

On the shores of Aitcho Island, Antarctica, Elephant Seal pups laze around, ignoring the Penguins that wander around them without a care.

Not your average experience, these Kayakers brave the cold and the slightly-above-freezing water to explore Paradise Bay in West Antarctica. This was a simply stunning day, with no breeze, clear water, and stunning glacier swept miuntains that ended in the sea surrounding us.

Images from Antarctica will be online on the coming weeks.

The ruins of an abandonded Whaling Station are an erie sight in the caldera of the volcano known as Deception Island. Part of the South Shetland Islands of the Antartica Peninsula, Deception Island is like stepping onto a dead world. With several eruptions re-shaping the landscape in just the past 80 years, the island had all bust been abandonded by Sealers, Whalers and more recently, Researchers. With it’s intermitent and unpredictable eruptions it has become impossible to setup a permanent base at the site, although hundreds of tourist ships sail into its flooded caldera every year.

A Hawk poised for flight in the Laguna Nimez Reserve 20 minutes out of downtown El Calafate, Argentina. This beautiful bird sanctuary is well worth exporting while in El Calafate, as it is away from the hustle and bustle of the glaciers, and gives you yet another beautiful experience of this varied and extrodinary landscape.

Hundreds of thousands of travellers from around the world flood to Argentina and the Patagonia region every year to experience the wonder of the natrual beauty of its land and culture. One natural feature that certainly stands out amongst the rest is the Perito Moreno Glacier. At around 19 miles long and 3 miles wide, it is the third largest source of fresh water in the world.

The cracking and creaking of the ice as you walk on it reminds you that it is a living thing, constantly shifting and changing. The track cutters that carve paths through the glacier for tourists are kept busy every day making new routes, as the ice shifts and old routes either get swallowed up, or open up and become large crevases. This image was captured as a few weary travellers were relaxing after a long glacier walk, enjoying their lunch and watching out for ice breaking off the face of the glacier and crashing into the water below.

In recent months I have been in talks with Phil Spitze of www.photographerswithoutborders.org (USA) and Danielle Da Silva www.photographerswithoutborders.ca (Canada) who are leaders of their own respective organisations. Phil proposed the merging of our three organisations under one to help expand out reach and visibility, and build the brand of the Wandering Man on the www.photographerswithoutborders.net site.

This is an exiting development that we believe will help increase the reach of Photographers Without Borders and will enable the establishment of offices in three key countries( Asutralia, USA, Canada). While we are all pretty keen to join forces, we have put active discussions on hold until later in the year to allow each organisation to finalise some current activities that we are working on independantly. Rest assured we will keep you updated when talks resume. In the mean time, check out their websites and see what they are upto!

The vibrant and fast paced urband landscape of Kowloon in Hong Kong is always throwing up suprises. On this day I was walking around the city with a friend and stadning atop a stair case. Within moment, hundreds of ladies with umbrellas flooded the street as a local Mosque finished it’s service. The colours of their robes and umbrellas were striking, a stark contrast to the more subdued grey of the city streets.

La Recoleta Cemetary in Buenos Aires, Argentina is a sight to behold. The work that goes into preserving the memories of those past is simply mind boggling. Amongst others, it is the final resting place of the famous Evita Peron.
